Jose Carrillo was born on 29 Dec 1824 and was baptized on 30 Dec 1824 #680 at the Presidio in Santa Barbara. His Godparrents were listed as Don Jose de la Guerra, Captetan Comandante of the Presidio and his daughter Dona Teresa, single. Jose's fahter was Carlos Antonio De Jesus CARRILLO, Sargent of the Presidio, b. 24 Dec 1783 in Santa Barbara, CA. Jose's mother was Maria Josea Raymunda CASTRO b. 26 Aug 1785 in San Diego, CA. Jose de Jesus Carrillo married Tomasa GUTIERREZ on December 9, 1852 in the Old Mission of Santa Barbara. Their sponsors were Don Pedro C. Carrillo and Dana Josefa Bandini. (Jose's older brother along with his future wife)
PLEASE NOTE: Found located in the Old Mission Cemetery is a Civil War Gravestone marked (Jose. Carrillo, CO.C., 1st Native Cal. Cav.)
