Hi David,
I went back to 1870 census and I think Etta is really Effie. There is no Etta in 1870. Most census' are hard to read at best. There is also a Walter, age 1, but they may have lost him by 1880. The Ted in 1880, age 8, may be Fred.
(there is a nice big rip in the middle of the names.
In 1870, Illinois living with them is a J.A. Hughey, age 29, b. KY, also a physician.
