Dear Hal,

I wish you had elaborated a dab more and told us the person's name.

The San Joaquin Genealogical Society http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sjgs/ has compiled many books...one in particarly called "Index to Probate Records San Joaquin County California 1850-1900. I have a copy of it at home but cannot use it without a name from you.

Let's see...I think you can obtain probate records at the county court house on third floor ..222 E. Weber Ave., Room 303, Stockton, California. I would phone their number 1-209-468-2843 (probate clerk)..to double check first.
