I'm not surprised there are errors...Poor Sam is listed in the 1860 CA census as Sam "CLACK", even tho Rachel's name is shown as "CLARK".
This is my 1st attempt to do research is CA (everyone else in my family are from the south, and my husband's family are all from PA and IN)
I'm hoping to find a connection for Rachel to the HITCHCOCK family who were early settlers in Stockton, and also connect Sam to Wm CLARK who was a doctor in RI, and also an early settler to CA.
Could you suggest any online site or records my library might have that have information about families who came to CA in 1840s?
