Have no info on DAR Chapter, but Commodore Robert Field Stockton was Commander of the US Pacific Fleet in 1846, and as military governor directed the conquest of California in 1846-1847. He was greatly admired by Charles Weber, the founder of Stockton, who named the city in his honor.
