In the POLK'S STOCKTON CALIFORNIA CITY DIRECTORY 1937, on page 108, quote:
"Fairbanks, Leslie S (Lillian) carp h1221 N. Wilson way"

My guess Lillian is the wife, carp is carpenter? h is home.
