Thank you so much for all of the information.
It appears that the 1938 application had a few holes in it.
It said my GGG Grandparents were married in the Shenandoah Valley, and I have their marriage bonds from
Jefferson County,Ohio.and in a double wedding with Jane Lees sister.
There is no conclusive proof that Robert E. Lee is an
ancester, and per the family manuscript it says the family prefers GGG Grandmother Jane Lee to be from Western Pa., than to be illegitimate.(baffling)
If I am going to teach and share family information with my grandchildren, I could never embellish the family history.
My GG Grandfather John G Lyons, brother of William Henry Lyons came from a family of millers.
We find them in Washington Co.,Pa on the various census, but no land of any sort.
Another brother said they came from a very large plantation.
So here I am looking for plantations and a wealthy family,( not caring one way or the other) and finding
plain decent hard working millers "following in the steps of their fathers and grandfathers."
I have a few loose ends in this Lyons family to tie up,
and I am prertty close to getting my DAR papers completed.
Thank you again for taking the time to assist me.
I am very appreciative.
