I have sent money twice to CA for a death certificate. Both times they said there is not one. Henry L Smith was born in TN in 1827. His daughter lived in Kansas at the time of his death. He spent a lot of time in MO visiting relatives off and on during his life. In Aug of 1907 a George Huestis was appointed his legal guardian. Henry was a veteran of the Mexican War and received a pension. He sutained a severe head injury during the conflict and suffered head aches and confusion off and on from it.
The U S pension agent in San Francisco notified the Dept of Interior, Bureau of Pensions that Henry died Nov 1907.
I was told that no one by the name of Henry Smith died anywhere in CA after 1905. That just does not make any sense to me. Is there anyone out there who can check the death certificates somehow for me?
