Wayne, I am tracking the Herman Baecht family from NY>NJ>IL>CA. On the 1880 Census Chicago, Cook Co., IL Carl Zernitz son-in-law age 39 and Lizzie daughter age 26 are listed with the family. In the mid 1880's the Herman Baecht's moved to "Olivenhain" German Colony near San Diego. I found a marriage record for Lizzie ZERNITZ to Oscar STELZNER 19 Feb 1895, San Diego Co., CA. Is it possible that your Effie is a daughter of Oscar by a previous marriage? I would like to make contact with anyone with information on the BAECHT, ZERNITZ, or STELZNER families.
