Hi, I've recently started researching my family history again and came across both of your notes after reading the John Ward "Yaqui" article. I also have some information on the Ward family, but not as thorough as both of yours.

John Ward (est. 1833-est.1896) born in Kentucky, married to Frances (est. 1857-est.1897) born in, what I assume, Mexico. She is suspected to be Cherokee. They had 9 children.
In order from oldest to youngest:
Martha (1879-est. 1906),
John (1880-1902)
Maria (Mary) (1883-1977) born in San Diego, died in Merced and is said to be buried at the Merced District Cemetery. She had 10 children of her own, but there is no information on her 3 or 4 husbands that I have found.
Ellen (est. 1886-unknown)
Helen (1893-1967)
Teresa (Terresa), and
Hermina (who was later adopted to the McClene family - I don't know if my spelling of the name is correct).

I am the great, great, granddaughter of Maria Ward (we have her recorded as Mary) and was wondering if you two have any notes on her, or any other notes on the Ward family in general.
