That sounds like a good idea.
A few yrs ago, because of possible identity theft, one of our state senators managed to have a bill passed blocking access to b/d records. You can't even LOOK at them in the courthouse.
You could also request Thos' WWII military records [for occupation at time of enlistment], but that would've been yrs later. I did note he was in the 325th Medical Batalion when he died, and bur in Loraine France. Was he a medic, Dr.?
I tried from a different angle re: parents' occupations, but didn't help. I do have census from 1910-30 for the family. Also have Helen's parents' marriage info, plus their parents, if you need it.
