At 8 o'clock last evening, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. S. Foye, Miss Sophie E. Stevenson and Eugene Ackley Crouch were united in marriage by Rev. Carroll M. Davis. The bride is the niece of Mrs. Foye and the bridegroom a nephew of Mrs. E. B. Crocker. From 9 to 12 o'clock a reception was held. It was one of the most brilliant social events that has occurred in Sacramento in many years. The guests were several hundred in number, and some present came from San Francisco and other points and from the State of Nevada for the occasion. The costumery of the ladies was the most elaborate and rich that has been seen at a social reunion in this city in a long time. The entire residence was thrown open to the guests and a large corps of servants were in attendance to attend to their wants. Mrs. Foye and Mrs. Crocker, attended by Mrs. Crouch, the groom's mother, and the sisters of the bride, Mrs. Cothrin and Miss Stevenson, and by Mrs. J. H. Sullivan, an aunt of the bride's, received the guests and presented them to the newly-wedded pair....(elaborate descriptions of decorations, gifts, etc. follows.)
