I do not know who Mariah's parents were, but she is listed in the census as being born in Illinois about 1847 based on her age during the census. Is Franklin Twp. nearby? Although they did not live in Courland all the time, it looks like they stayed in Sacramento County. Wish I had a little more leads to give you. I guess there is not an 1890 census.

Perhaps you will find something on Solomon and Mariah's children: Kate, Florence, Edward, L., M.E. (Mary Elizabeth?), and Charles. They all likely married in Sacamento County. I have some of the spouse's names but no marriage dates or places.
