Reuben Hail 1802 to 1873

Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. He moved to Missouri in the 1830's. He spent time in California in 1846 to 1849. He returned to Missouri in 1849. He moved back to California with his family and settled in Merced County. Reuben died in 1873 and is buried in Plainsburg Cemetery. Is there any way of finding out if Reuben Hail was a gold prospector or owned a plot during the gold rush? Is there any way of knowing if Reuben was a soldier in California during the Mexican War? Please help me find this out. I would really appreciate the help. Thank you for your help. brian in springfield mo
