I am researching Thomas Legg, born about 1870, most likely Dorset, England. He married Susannah --?-- b. abt 1870, England and they had the following children born in England: Thomas Legg Jr., William Legg, David Legg, Mary Legg(John Carey), Susannah Legg(William Green) b. abt. 1802, Robert Legg b. abt. 1805, Georgeanna Legg(Robert Hansford) b. 13 Nov, 1814 in Allington, Dorset, England.
Thomas and Susannah, Thomas Jr., William, Robert and Elizabeth are found in Lewis County, Missouri beginning in 1832. Thomas Legg Jr. dies in Lewis County about 1832. William dies in Missouri about 1836, and leaves a son, William T. L. Legg with guardian Abner Bozarth, and in 1838, Robert Legg. Thomas Legg Sr.dies in Lewis County in 1838. Susannah Legg (Mother)dies in Missouri after 1843.
Robert and Elizabeth Legg leave Missouri and move to Grant County Wisconsin by 1846. They have the following children: Susannah Legg b. abt 1838 in MO; Robert Legge b. about 1841 in MO; Mary Legg b. about 1842 in MO; James Legge b. abt. 1845 in MO; Elizabeth Legg b. abt. 1846 in WI; Thomas William Legge b. 15 Aug. 1848 in WI. They leave Wisconsin about 1852 for the goldfields of California.
Robert, Elizabeth and family arrive in San Francisco, CA. 23 Nov. 1852. Elizabeth Legg dies in 1853, San Francisco. In 1860, Robert, Elizabeth, Robert jr. and Thomas are in NEVADA COUNTY, CA. James Legge is in San Francisco as a printers apprentice.
