John Hosken Snell (Nevada County, CA., - 1880s)

I am seeking information on John Hosken Snell. He was born in 1844 in Sancreed, Cornwall, England and later moved with his family to Paul, near Penzance. Father Nicholas, mother Catherine. Recorded as present in 1861 census, then aged 17, by which time his father had died.
Next sight I have of him is in Nevada County, CA., where he was entered on the Voter Registration list on 20 September, 1884. (A James Snell, likely to be John's brother born in 1854, is entered in the same list on 3 August, 1881).
It is very likely that John Hosken Snell and his brother James emigrated to Nevada County as miners, in common, I understand, with many other Cornishmen.
Grateful any information at all on him. Thanks!
