Mountery County Herald, CA Tue, Mar. 11, 2003
Irene Lacy, 90, died March 1 at Monterey Pines Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born March 15, 1912, in San Angelo, Texas. She grew up in Arlington, Texas, where she attended Arlington College. There she met and married her husband, William Lacy. They lived in Henderson, Texas. She moved to Pacific Grove in 2000 to be near her family. She lived at Carmelo Park retirement home for a year and a half before moving to Monterey Pines Skilled Nursing Facility. Mrs. Lacy was very involved with her husband, children and grandchildren. She taught Methodist Youth Fellowship, was a popular band chaperon and was a busy and loving mother. Her range of interests included traveling, church, Eastern Star, bridge, oil painting and photography. She was known for her sense of humor and adventure. She and her husband traveled all over the United States after her children were grown, and her husband worked as a traveling industrial plumber. She is survived by two sons, Jack Lacy of San Jose and Craig Lacy of Rockwell, Texas; a daughter, Gail Reeney of Pacific Grove; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Lacy, in 2000. Memorial services were held in Texas. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Day Care Program, Del Mar Caregiver Association, Visiting Nurse Association or the Heartland Hospice.
