Edw A WELSH served CW Co G 2 MD Inf 1861-65; he evidently enlisted abt the age of 15.He also served in USN 1867-69 as "ordinary seaman" on the USS Constellation, Ohio, Franklin, and Vermont.
He received GSW to the face 1862 Bull Run VA; GSW to the right side at Fredericksburg.He filed for his pension 1876; Edna filed 6-20-1923, so assuming yr he died.
Edw resided US Nat'l Home for DUS, Ft Monroe VA from 1894-99,again 1900-06; 5'9 1/2", blue eyes/gray hair; painter; protestant [1900 census shows him in this home, also states m 27 yrs; b 9-1846 Baltimore]
