I went back into my email program and reread the message I received from Ancestry.(please scroll down page)And I feel the need to say, I made a huge blunder. When I read their message, I got the idea that they really didn't have a merge feature.(please tell me you agree)But then, just now, I read past their signature at the bottom of their meessage, and lo and behold, there are links to help me with my concern.Your link is better, though, and I have printed it out.I feel like such a klutz!I'm usually more on the ball than this.
I am going to be so careful about this merge. And I need to read and study much, much more.I need to find out how the merge works. For example: if I merge Mickey Mouse with his duplicate, will the merge also merge his wife, Minnie Mouse and all their children?Or will it only merge Mickey Mouse?
I'm sitting here laughing, speaking in sotto and saying, "This is not one of those isolated incidents where I plan to learn by trial and error".I don't want to err period, not when it comes to my genealogy files.I've already blundered that enough with duplicate entries.
Thanks again for all your input. And thank you so much for truly feeling my anguish.
