Kinda surprised this discussion continued, and I'm puzzled at the way it did.
You say "same names is not my problem. Duplicate entries is." Yes, the person who wrote to you understands that you are talking about duplicate entries!
She brought up similar people (not duplicate entries) because those kinds of folks make it hard for any software to spot a duplicate entry. You are saying you want a software that will decide for you - it would make global decisions about your duplications.
Also I am not grokking this statement: "I will always have duplicate entries in my Ancestry Tree the way THEIR PROGRAM is set up." I don't understand. If you delete all your duplicate people, you won't have any duplicates, right? The program does not make duplications inevitable. I have NONE (yet I have thousands of names on my tree - including the usual entanglements of families and names).
Maybe it boils down to this: I'm a fan of Ancestry.com including the online tree system. There. I've said it!
The software can do amazing things, has excellent and usually quite sound "advice" and "hints" to follow up, is versatile, user friendly, and, for use of the tree system alone, it is - tadah! - FREE!
This does not make your present task any easier. Ugh. Wish I could make the problem go away for you ....
