Hurshel Red Rushing left us on December 28, 2002. He was born July 25, 1921, in Missouri. Hurshel moved to California at the age of 16. He began working for Don E. Keith Trucking in 1940 where he was employed as a truck driver, mechanic and shop foreman until his death. Hurshel married Helen Montgomery in 1966.
He is survived by wife, Helen; his daughters, Carolyn and David Watson of Tehachapi and Linda and Larry Hopkins of Cleveland, TX; sons, Jerry Gear of Porterville, Leon and Kim Gear and Ronnie Gear of Corcoran; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister and son, Buddy Gear. Memorial services were held on January 4, 2003.
