Seeking information about Oscar P.F. Kallenbach(k) b. 1824 in NJ. Oscar m. Mary possibly maiden name Ritt, b. in NY in 1834. Oscar and Mary had one daughter, Ceclia b. 1876 in California. Oscar had two known brothers William and Charles. Oscar sailed from NY to San Francisco in 1849 and left a journal of his journey. Capt. Bodfish was in charge of this voyage on the ship Panama. Oscar wrote about many of his ship mates aboard. Some of their surnames are: Dean, Gilbert, Zack, Whitman, Mc Hadock (Chaplin), McCarly, Marshall, Lewis.
Oscar came to CA in search of gold and claim land in Calaveras Co. near the Calaveras River & Calobs gulch. In 1880 Oscar and his wife, daughter, and William Horstmeyer, listed as a nephew were listed on the 1880 census as living in Stockton, CA. Anyone with clues or information about Oscar, his family or these sailor/miners, love to hear from you.
