John Fletcher Shirley, b 8-27-1828 in Hempstead Co, AR, d 1-24-1870 in Paso Robles, CA. He was the son of John H. Shirley (b abt 1786 NC) and Sarah. John had a sister Elvira who married James McIntire and a brother Wesley Walker who married Nancy Ann Reeder.
John Fletcher Shirley and Lydia A. Reeder (dau of Thomas Reeder & Eliza Fowler) were married 3-29-1861 in Hempstead Co, AR. They had at least 4 children:
Jefferson Davis Shirley, b 8-3-1863, d 6-16-1933 Merced Co, CA; m Isabelle Hitchcock; had 3 children - Ethel, Myrtle, William
Wesley Shirley, b 1865 in CA
Samuel Shirley, b 1868 in CA
Jerome Shirley, b 1870 in CA
I have a notation that John went to CA in 1852 and was in Kern Co, CA by 1862. If that is so, he must have made the trip back to AR where he married Lydia and then they traveled back to CA.
Does anyone have information about this family of Shirley's? I'm not directly related to the Shirley family but my aunt married a grandson of John's brother Wesley.
