I was able to find Oscar and wife Ida...it wasn't until I got home and did a little searching that I found the daughter Ollie Ruark died March 1, 1999..her obituary apperared in the Merced Sun Star on March 3, if you'd like a copy of her obit I can pick it up tomorrow or the next day...hope this helps...Alma
(FYI = Asphodel Cemetery is located in the Merced District Cemetery)

Obituaries
Oscar Sledge
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn for Oscar Sledge, 89, a Merced resident for 35 years who died Sunday in a local hospital following a lengthy illness.
Rev. Charles Hoffmeister of Central Presbyterian Church will conduct services for Mr. Sledge, who lived at 217 E. 23rd St. Burial will be in Asphodel Cemetery.
A gin operator for 35 years, Mr. Sledge is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ollie Ruark, Merced; two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

SLEDGE: In Merced, February 29, 1976, Oscar Sledge, father of Mrs. Ollie Ruark; grandfather of Mrs. LaVonne Asher, and Mrs. Ruth Reynolds; also survived by four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Friends are invited to attend the funeral services Wednesday, March 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn. Rev. Charles Hoffmeister, of the Central Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Asphodel Cemetery.

Ida Sledge
Services will be held in the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. for Mrs. Ida Bell Sledge, 78, who died in a Turlock hospital Saturday.
Mrs. Sledge, who was born on Arkansas, had resided here four years. She leaves her husband, Oscar Sledge, 2416 S. St.; a daughter, Mrs. Ollie Ruaruk of Long Beach; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Asphodel Cemetery.
