Reuben Hail first came to California from Missouri in 1848-1849. He may have been in the Mexican War(cannot find a place to verify that) He was in California in 1849 but returned to Missouri. In 1853, he returned to the Merced--Mariposa area. He lived in Snelling, Plainsburg, and other areas of Merced and Mariposa CO. He was buried in Plainsburg Cemetery. I cannot find where his wife, Mary Ann was buried. Reuben was a Justice of the Peace in Merced. Are there any books or writings of any kind that mention who Rueben's parents were? Reuben had a sister-in-law named Elizabeth Ellen Taylor(married to William Fielding Taylor) who lived next door to Reuben back in Greene CO Missouri. Elizabeth and her family lived in Snelling and La Grange. Are there any records that tell who the parents are of Reuben Hail? Please contact me if you know anything about Reuben's parents. thanks brian in springfield mo
