With some challenge, I think this is getting posted to the right person...
I just by chance happened on your conversation in the Alhambra/Pasadena area. While I have no direct information I know the area very well growing up a few blocks away. The San Gabriel Bl address was on my paper route about 1956. If I had a dollar for every time I passed that address I would take a trip to some island.

Pasadena had two newspapers the Pasadena Independent and the Pasadena Star News-one morning and one evening paper. They were competitors in the 1950s and by the early 1960s I believe they were under the same ownership. The Pasadena main library has microfilms of most of them. The market area for the papers were mainly Pasadena.

Mountain View Cemetery is located in Altadena to the north and is the only cemetery in the immediate area. Alhambra city is an older town and adjacent to Pasadena to the south. If you have any questions about the area, just ask.
