Alfred (Fred) Berner

My grandfather was Alfred (Fred) Berner (b. 1904), who came from Germany in the 1930's. He lived in the LA area from about 1935-1940 with Adeline Lacy at 3066 Cazador. Or he may have lived elsewhere, but he did have a child (my mother) with her after her divorce from Theodore Lacy. That child was put up for adoption, the adoption records we have say he was a naturalized citizen, but there are no records of that, and family members say he was never a US citizen.

Would love to find more information on him. He does not show up on any census records so far (1940 not indexed yet), city directories, etc. Family thinks he probably returned to Germany. We may have located a half relative, our stories about him match some, but are sketchy. That relative says he died in 1972 in Berlin.
