>>THURSDAY, 20 NOV 1862<<

INDIAN MURDERS -- A band of Pah-Utes recently murdered G.I. KELLOGG and Joseph BLOCK at Honey Lake Valley. The murdered men were afterwards buried at LATHROP's ranch. KELLOGG's head was scalped from the ears upward by the Indians, and BLOCK's whiskers and all his lower jaw, with the skin from his breast, was taken off, and his body otherwise shamefully mutilated. BLOCK was a German, and had been living in the Humboldt mines, and had upon his person at the time he was killed, about $1000. The Indians who committed these murders are supposed to be a roving band of Pah-Utes, numbering about 60.
