Hi, Carol!

Thanks so much for taking the time to get back to me. Yes, i checked Union Cemetery some years ago and got a print-out of all the Lairds buried there.

Recently, when i checked, i did not find Arthur Rench or Della Rench listed in Union Cemetery.

John W.P. Laird was my 2nd great grandfather, and i have a newspaper obit as well as an entry from HISTORY OF KERN COUNTY in which he and other members of my family are mentioned. His son, ROLLIN LAIRD, was city attorney in Bakesfield for some time.

It was suggested to me that perhaps Della died during the great flu epidemic of 1918-1919. During that time, there were so many deaths that some were not recorded.

There is also a chance that she may have died in an institution and the death was not recorded properly. Her daughter, Henrietta, was known to be bi-polar ("manic depressive" in those days) Since this illness has a genetic component, it is possible that Della also suffered from it.

I'd sure like to know what happened to her!
