On August 8, 1915 two siblings, Robert Waller Ferguson and Idella Ferguson are said to have died in a canal. Robert was nine years of age and Idella was 4 years. Their parents were John Waller Ferguson and Rachel Catherine Strain. The family was from Oklahoma. It is said that Rachel took the lives of her two children while visiting her family. No one seems to know the reason or if this story is true. I would like to find any news articles on this sad story to set it straight. If she didn't take these young lives, I would like to get her name cleared in this tradegy. Rachel died 1956 in Los Angeles in a home for the insane. John went on to become City Marshal and Sheriff of Adair County, OK and eventually remarried, but he never had any more children.Robert and his sister are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Imperial County in unmarked graves. Any help in obtaining obituaries/news articles/death certificates of these two children greatly appreciated.
