Yes, I have some info - from the 1880 census, I think I located his birth family (but not sure). I feel certain the census data I got applies because the John Smith I am looking for was born on a farm (dairy). John married Marjorie (maiden name ?) who he met in New Zealand. He was working on another farm (dairy?) there. It is not known exactly when he returned to the states. They had two boys (one named John, another name unknown, and a girl named Marjorie Lois.) Marjorie Lois Smith married Kevin Barry.

Flora daughter-going to school age 7 yrs same
Maggie same age 5 yrs same
Bertha dau. - at home age 4 yrs same
John son - at home age 1 yr same.
