I live in Humboldt, and there is a Hensel Hardware in downtown Arcata, it has been in Arcata for decades. I know the store is family owned, I don't know if it is still the Hensel family that owns it, or what. There are no Hensels in the white pages. The hardware store phone number is (707)822-2965.
You might also try searching microfilm for the Arcata Union newspaper, now defunct, was around for decades, it carried birth & death announcements as well as news & events.
Hensel hardware suffered a fire about 1990-91 and rebuilt a block away.
