I can add a little bit to what Cindy has already sent you. I was doing some volunteer work at the library today and checked all of the Eureka city directories from 1885 to 1923. Josephine A Flye was listed as a boarder in Henry Byard's home clear up to his death in 1920. She was listed as a widow of Reuben D. She was at the same address until she died of heart disease at the house at 1642 C Street. Her actual obituary in the newspaper didn't add anything except that was a resident of the area for 45 years. I am assuming that her son's middle name was Abbott.
Henry Byard was listed as a woodsman in the first directory and then a teamster from then on.
