Are there any death records for 1905-1930?

I have an Alexander Thompson who arrived in Humboldt County (probably Eureka) in 1905.

Cannot find him in the 1910 cenusus.

In 1920 his wife is living with a dau. in Contra Costa County, and says she is still married.

By 1930 she is in SF and says she is widowed.

Since he was in the lumber business, I do not find it unusual that they lived apart, however, I can find no trace of him. Nor can I find any death record sources online for that period of time. Does anyone know?
