George Burton Young
Services for George Burton Young, 98 of Placerville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Chapel of the Pines with the Rev. William Schafer and members of American Legion Post 119 officiating. Interment will be in Placerville Union Cemetery.
Mr. Young died Feb. 24 at a local hospital.
A native of Plymouth, he lived the past 96 years in El Dorado County. He served with the U. S. Army during World War I, fighting in four major battle in France and Belgium. He was a charter member of American Legion post 119, charter member of El Dorado Barracks 685 of World War I, member of Veteran of Foreign Wars, past president of the El Dorado County Mineral Society, member of Sons In Retirement Chapter 134 and Native Sons of the Golden West, Georgetown Parlor No. 91.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Young of Placerville, son Donald Young of Minden, Nev.; daughter Edith Edelman Hall of Santa Clara; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
