Musick Family Association of America. Proposed new book book
Latest report from the Musick Family Association of America about the proposed history and genealogy of the Music/Musick family: The database now includes over 17,000 names. Because of this massive size, it was earlier proposed to limit the book to the first three generations, beginning with George Musick, Sr. "The Pioneer." Members want more coverage, but even there, the cost of printing and publication was appearing to be excessive. So the present plan is to publish everything down to approximately the current date, only on a computer disk, in CD format, probably using the FamilyTreeMaker program.Apparently the vast majority of our members are computer literate; for them, use and research by CD is more convenient. Also, they can print out all, or only the interesting parts of the CD. For others, they can arrange a printout of the CD, probably more conveniently at a local source. Finally, using the CD permits more frequent updates than printed material. Thoughts of Members about this plan are requested. We hope a publication date won't be too far off, but there are research efforts underway which are still significant. More news as it develops will follow.
