children of John V. Zocchi KIA 1944 WWII had Uncle Roy Zocchi d. 1971 San Fran
On WWII message forum a man from the Netherlands is trying to locate the family of a SGT John V. Zocchi KIA 1944 (b. 1914) in the Netherlands and buried there. I found the family in San Francisco: father William George Zocchi, mother Eva Lillian Martill/Maritall, he had brothers William d.1926 and Roy C (Elroy) Zocchui d. 1971 in San Francisco.
John enlisted 1942 and he was married so he might have had some children born 1935-1942 or have neices and/or nephews.
Message from WWII Forum:
Hi,
I am from The Netherlands, and I am doing some research to find information and/or relatives of a soldier killed in Western Europe during ww2.
The closest info I have on his last known addres (wartime) is something like:
John V. Zocchi
153 Medowbrook Av
San Francisco 16
This addres has too be treated with some caution, as it comes from wartime unofficial german records. In this record, he is called 'Jack' (by error).
He is now burried on a cemetary in Holland.
As there is a story to his death, I am trying to find out whatever possible. It seems that he was probably born in 1914 and his mothers last name was probably Maritall.
If I could locate a relative that can me something about this soldier, I would be very pleased.
