THE WOMEN in the FIELD -- At a meeting of the San Joaquin Woman Suffrage Association lately held in this city, the subject of placing a candidate for the State Senator in the field was discussed, and it was concluded to nominate Mrs. Laura de FORCE GORDON, of Mokelumne, provided that lady would accept. Being at present at Siskiyou, on her way to Oregon on a lecturing tour, a letter was sent to her for the purpose of ascertaining her views on the matter. As yet we have not heard of any answer to the letter having been received.
