You may be aware that the "History of Butte County" by George C. Mansfield, pub. 1918 contains an item on page 314 as follows: "In August,1882, Shadrack Jones was beaten to death with rocks at a point near Chico known as Hog Wallow." It provides no information about the incident, but the local newspaper may have an item. I found no information about his descendents.
