Hi Debian,
Alpine Co. is very unusual because it has never had a hospital. Most people who needed medical services went to another county or another state. This is all explained at cagenweb.com/alpine/hist.htm .

There is a volunteer at Random Acts Genealogical Kindness who does have access to the County records. Go to raogk.org, read guidelines, choose California, choose Alpine Co. Successful Searching!
