MARRIED - at Stowell's, N.T., April 19, 1864, William JACKSON, of Markleeville, to Maggie WELCH, of Butler county, Ohio.
MARRIED - at the residence of bride's father, Elliott township, San Joaquin county, on Sunday evening, May 1, 1764, by Rev. J.M. MILLER; Mr. K.B. ELLIOT to Miss Fannie J. HARTWELL.

INFORMATION WANTED of John H. HEARN, when last heard of, 2 years ago, he was living in San Joaquin county, with a man by the name of CLARK. Any information of him would be thankfully received by Dr. F.G. HEARN, Yreka, Cal.; or Warren HEARN, Versailles, Woodford county, Kentucky.
NOTARIAL - Phil. W. SCRIBNER has been commissioned a Notary Public for Calaveras county, residence at Angels, and Abraham SHELL for Stanislaus, residence at Knights Ferry.
RESIGNED - John S. ELLIS, Sheriff of San Francisco, has resigned his office, the resignation to take effect as soon as his successor can be elected and qualify. Mr. ELLIS returns to the East in July, where it is said he will enter the army.

DIED - in this city, May 5th, Rhoda J. RANDALL, wife of Thomas RANDALL, aged 42 years. [Friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral, from the M.E. Church, this afternoon, at 2 o'clock.]
FATAL ACCIDENT - Folsom 'Telegraph' -- On Monday evening last a man laboring under intoxication fell from the balcony of the Wheeler House, breaking his neck, and expiring almost instantly. He registered his name upon the hotel as James RAYMOND. On a memorandum found in his pocket,
his name appeared as George OTTO.*A man known by the latter name was a short time since a resident of the town of Woodbridge in this county.*
DREADFUL ACCIDENT - A telegram from Gold Hill, N.T., May 4th, says: A dreadful accident occurred in this town this evening. The town authorities had 25 men at work constructing a reservoir for the water works at the head of the town, near the Aullion mine. This evening about 5 o'clock an overhanging embankment, 12 feet high, caved down - there being, perhaps, 50 tons in weight - and buried 9 of the workmen. They were extricated as soon as possible. 5 were horribly bruised and mangled. 2 were entirely dead, and 3 of the number have since died. The names of the dead are Nicholas HENERHAN, John ROBERTSON, Nicholas MURPHY, Thomas RYAN and P. FORD. The other 4 were not seriously hurt and are doing well.

INDIAN CHIEF KILLED - The Shasta 'Courier' says: "On April 25th, COCOTUPA, Chief of the McCloud and Pitt River Indians, was found dead within a short distance of Millville. 3 arrows were lodged in his body, and the deed is said to have been committed by the pestilential Yuba tribe."
DROWNED - On the 2d instant a man named Menzo COUNTRYMAN was accidentally drowned in the American river, a short distance below the Central Pacific Railroad bridge. He was from Linwood, Ogle county, Illinois, and aged 21 years.
INSANE - Mrs. Hattie DRAKE, of San Francisco, a daughter of Benjamin TIBBETS, of Sacramento, and mother of 3 children, has been adjudged insane and ordered to the Asylum.
