My family moved from AR to CA...in 1942-43, parents, aunts, uncles, & grandmother...all, worked on the ships...I was two yrs old, sister was 12 yrs...mother was an electrician.
A photographer took pictures of a woman welder, mother was working next to her and was in the picture...this picture and an article was published in a popular magazine at that time. May have been the 'Liberty' magazine...My sister remembers all this...I am trying to locate it to make a copy of the article and the picture of my mother, who was born in 1909, worked there 1942-43, died 1994...Does anyone out there know anyone who may have access to these old magazines? If you recognize this magazine and know someone
who may have copies for this time-frame? Would you be so kind to check with local libraries, if they have copies...? One Aunt worked at the Moore's shipyard, and mother may have worked, was there a Bethleham-Steel shipyard?...Any help or suggestions appreciated! dc_sam@comcast.net
