Charles Alfred Reinhart, Berkeley, CA
Posted by: Charlene Reinhart Date: June 04, 2000 at 07:59:17
  of 1061

My grandfather was Charles Alfred Reinhart. Charles Alfred Reinhart was born in 1889 in Baltimore, Maryland. His parents were Charles William Reinhart and Sarah Cockrell.

Charles lived at 1735 S. Vine St. in Berkeley, Alameda County, California at the time of his death on June 3, 1955. He died in a head-on car crash in Tooele, Tooele County, Utah. Charles and his second wife, Mayme, were on their way to Chicago, Illinois to visit my dad, Charles Edward Reinhart (b. 1918 in Chicago, IL). Mayme was injured, but survived the car crash.

Mayme was previously married and her first husband's name was Mr. Roderick. She had a few children with Mr. Roderick. As far as I know, she had no children with Charles Reinhart.

Charles' first wife was my grandmother Della Sheridan (1888-1943). They were married in Chicago in 1916. Their first child, Mary, was born and died in September, 1917. My father, Charles Edward Reinhart, was born on 12/25/1918. My father was raised by his grandmother, Mary Sheridan nee McGovern.

Uncertain of date when Charles left. As was the custom at that time, Charles did not divorce Della. He married Mayme after Della died.

If you have any information about Charles Alfred Reinhart, or Mayme A. Reinhart or Mr. Roderick, please contact me at EMERA76147@aol.com.
