Jensen, Erwin R.
ERWIN R. JENSEN Beloved father and grandfather passed away on January 26, 2005. He was born on June 26, 1914, in Hayward, California. He was the oldest grandchild of one of the founders of the Jensen Ranch built in 1867. He was a graduate of Hayward Union High School in 1931 and Armstrong College in Berkeley. He worked in the grocery business as a store manger with a major chain and retired after 30 years in 1971. He also was a director and president of Lone Tree Cemetery for 30 years. He and his wife, Edith, were members of the Clan Gunn of North America and a member of the Danish Lodge #9 in Hayward. Erwin was also a lifetime member of the Mineral and Gem Society of Castro Valley. He was proud to be a captain in the Army during World War II, serving in Europe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, of 57 years. He is survived by his two daughters, Janis Jewell of Hayward, and Barbara Millert of Castro Valley, and son-in-law, Gary Millert. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ellen Cruz, Michael Jewell, Ryan Millert and Devin Millert. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren. Erwin was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Alan Jensen and James Jensen. Friends and family may attend a memorial service at Lone Tree Cemetery Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at 2 p.m. Contributions in his name may be made to the Hayward Historical Society. Sorensen Bros.
