Alma Matilda Apple (Löf), b. 1893 Sweden-d. 1959 Alameda
Hi !
I'm looking for Alma Matilda Apple (maiden name was Löf, often changed to Leaf in the US). Alma was born in Munkfors, parish of Ransäter, county of Värmland, on Aug 28, 1893. She moved to America together with her brother Gottfrid Löf in October of 1909.
They travelled by boat, Oscar II, from Oslo to New York and then by train to California where their sister Ella Wennerblad (Löf) was living. Gottfrid stayed with Ella, but Alma lived with a Danish/German family (Census 1910). They were called James (?) and May Torkelson and lived in the Alameda county, where Alma worked as a servant. Her family name in the census was Leif.
She lived in the San Francisco area all her life, where she married a jew who had several jeweller shops according to the stories told by my older relatives. Unfortunately, they don't remember his name. Alma died in Alameda county May 19, 1959.
The only thing I would like to add is that another sister Elisabet Qvarnström (Löf) later went to live in the same area. Elisabet was called Lisa in Sweden. The three sisters kept contact all their lives as far as I've understood.
Regards,
/Lars Carlgren
