HERBERT Obituary Look-up or Assistance

I have spent quite some time recently trying to obtain death notice / obituary information on two of my family members who lived in Hayward, Alameda County and died there. One was my grandfather's brother, Joseph A. Herbert, died June 21, 1961 and the other was Joseph's wife, Sophia Herbert (maiden unknown) who died February 7, 1966.

I have been in touch with the Alameda Co. Library, the Hayward Library and Cal State / Hayward Library with no success to date.

Can anyone help me out or direct me to another possible resource? Thanks for your time.
