It appears Mary Vest married a man surnamed Eastman. It is possible her husband traces back to Moses H. or Frank G. Eastman who both lived in Oakland in 1886. The court petitions I referred to stated that these two men were "of age," meaning they were at least 21 years old in 1886. Given that their sister, Laura Eastman Dillingham, was 32 in 1865 (see my reference to the US Census of that year; the mother, Adah Eastman was then 70), it is likely Moses and Frank were born somewhere in the same time period as Laura -- say, between 1825 and 1845. These dates, all reasonable, give you a time frame you can relate to Mary Vest Eastman. When was she born? What year did she marry? If she had children, when were they born? And so on. You need some dates. Working backward or forward from known dates will more often than not lead you to ancestry facts, either the ones you hoped to find or the ones that jolt you when they appear. It of course is quite possible the man who married Mary Vest connects to the Eastmans I referred to in my posting. If you can get dates, the two of us can probably come up with facts that these dates verify or that are at least consistent with other facts we are certain of. Of course, they may not connect at all. Regards, rhf
