Rhoda BYRNS Henley Newton is the sister of my line
(John BYRNS jr - son of Dr. John BYRNS and Mary Ann BAXTER Goyen).
Rhoda and her three NEWTON children Ann, Robert and John are in the 1850 Census of Harrison County Texas - 85B, page line 11. This census shows Rhoda was born in TN.
Rhoda Newton is in the 1860 Census of Hopkins County Texas - Beat 1, White Oak PO, stamp 141a, page 17 [17/25], line 39. She is living in the home of her daughter Ann - (G.W. WHITE, wife Ann and children Laura and Alice). Rhoda's son Robert NEWTON is living there as well - line 40. This census shows Rhoda was born in TN.
According to the document written in 1890 (http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/la/caddo/biographies/newtonjb.txt) Rhoda BYRNS Henley Newton died in Hopkins County in 1864. This document says Rhoda was born in South Carolina. This document says Rhoda's son Robert J. NEWTON died in Saltillo [Lee County], Mississippi (during Civil War?)
After Rhoda's death in Hopkins County: (Delta County wasn't established until 1870 July) Hopkins County 1870 census shows: George WHITE and family; wife Ann, children Laura, Alice, George, Bob & Charles - Precinct #2, page 38 [38/68], stamp 95B, line 2, White Oak Post Office. (no info for birth state for Ann's mother, Rhoda)
1880 census WHITE family is still in TX, Hopkins Co., District 57, Precinct #2, stamp 138B, line 25) G.W., Ann and children Alice, Newton, Robert, Charles and Elby. This document shows 'blank' info where her mother (Rhoda) was born. However, Rhoda's son John B. NEWTON is in Caddo Parish, LA: District 14, Ward 3, stamp 206a, page 40, [38/55]. John shows he was born in TN; his father (George) born SC his mother (Rhoda) born SC.
1900 census - Rhoda's daughter (Ann Elizabeth NEWTON White) has moved to Delta County (established July 1870) - Ann is now a 71 year old widow. Others in her home are daughter Annie L. WHITE Holmes & her 3 kids. Also, son Bob N. WHITE (Robert Newton WHITE). TX, Delta Co., District 37, Justice Precinct #4, stamp 128A, sheet number 13a. This shows Ann's mother (Rhoda) was born in South Carolina. Ann shows children: 6 born 4 living. (Ann's SIX children combined from census' are Laura, Alice, George/Newton, Robert/Bob, Charles, Elby.)
