Looking for connections/descendants of relatives named Byrnes or Burns---it was spelled either way, who lived in the Burlington, Vermont area, primarily in Colchester and Milton.

Thomas Burns, bc 1799 Ireland died May 12, 1872 Colchester, VT, son of Patrick. Wife Alice age 65 in 1870 census, b 1805 in Ireland.

A Thomas Burns Jr. was born 1824 in Ireland, in the 1870 census he has wife Mary age 35, dau Alice b 1863 VT, son Owen b 1865 VT, son Patrick b 1866 VT, son Thomas b 1868 VT and a servant named Mary Williams age 71.

Vital Records of Vermont at Montpelier has:
Alice Byrnes, b 20 Jan 1863 Colchester, daughter of Thomas and wife.
Patrick Byrnes, b Mar 16, 1866
Thomas Byrnes, b June 10, 1864
Mary, b ? , married a man named Smith. These seem to be the same as the children of Thomas Burns Jr.

I am wondering if this Thomas Jr. was connected to Mary Byrnes O'Neil who was born ca 1825 in Ireland, married William O'Neil in Ireland, came to Canada and lived in Hamilton Ontario when her first child, Hugh O'Neil was born in 1854, then came to Colchester, Vermont after 1856. Mary and William were my gggrparents.
