Searching for the ancestors and family of Joseph Wellington Byrns for whom our school is named in Cedar Hill, Tn. He was born July 20, 1869 and died Jun 4, 1936. Born near Cedar Hill, Tenn. Member of Tennessee state house of representatives; Speaker of the Tennessee State House of Representatives, 1899; member of Tennessee state senate, 1900; Presidential Elector from Tennessee, 1904; U.S. Representative from Tennessee, 1909-36 (6th District 1909-33, 5th District 1933-36); Speaker of the U.S. House, 1935-36.
